English term

injection fraction

English to German Medical Medical: Cardiology Cardiology
opposit of left ventricular ejection fraction:
We tested the drug, in fact quite a high dose, and found that it improved the injection fraction and when you withdrew the drug the ejection fraction went back to being slight.
(I am assuming that it is a typo and meant is the ejection fraction; but I would still like to know what the translation of the INjection fraction would be)

linksventrikuläre Ejektions-/Auswurffraktion

This is supposed to be a typo and should read "ejection fraction" in any case (also when looking at the context which seems to deal with ejection fraction and nothing else).

"left ventricular ejection fraction" is usually translated as

"linksventrikuläre Auswurffraktion" or
"linksventrikuläre Ejektionsfraktion"

There is also such thing for the right ventricle -> term is 100% analogous.

Cardiologists to correct me but I never ever heard of *in*jection fraction.

And what's more, I'm inclined to believe that this peculiar piece of text was not written by an English native.

agree Florian v. Savigny : you will find, however, quite a few Google hits (e.g., http://www.healthlibrary.com/reading/yod/nov98/small.htm); my guess is it is a common misspelling. It is, however, odd to use the two spellings in the same sentence ...

Thanks Florian but I assume that the odd "creature" "Injektionsfraktion" isn't used in German ;-) Haven't tried Google though...
agree Dietrich Herrmann, MD, PhD, MBA : Einfach Ejektionsfraktion, das linksventrikulär kann ruhig weggelassen werden.

In diesem Fall sicher, falls es nur um den LV geht, aber wenn LVEF/RVEF gegenübergestellt werden...
agree Martina Keskintepe : I also think that this text was not written by a native English speaker, it just doesn't sound right.

Emissionsanteil

Wir testeten das Medicament, eigentlich in Hochdosis, und fanden dass es den Emissionsanteil verbesserte, und wenn abgesetzt, besagte Emission auf Geringfügigigkeit abfiel.

disagree Steffen Walter : far off-mark, see below

Generously pathetic!

Thanx, Rapid!
disagree Florian v. Savigny : That term has to do with air pollution but has nothing to do with heart physiology (and the sentence contains about 5 further mistakes!).

Au contraire, Florian; because if you were anywhere near as erudite as you're discourteous you would know that emission happens to be the synonym of ejection, and not limited to things air pollution! (and your math's no better than your semantics)!
