This material produced no genetic changes in a whole body animal assay (mouse micronucleus). Some positive (mutagenic) responses have been observed at very high dose levels in standard tests of both bacterial and animal cells (Ames, SOS chromotest, proliferin and mRNA transcription in C3H10T1/2 cells). This material is not very well absorbed from the digestive tract.
