The biological outcomes following VEGF‑C and VEGF‑D inhibition in vivo were assessed in a key mouse model of nAMD, in which CNV is initiated by laser-induced rupture of Bruch’s membrane, stimulating angiogenesis in the choroid and forming lesions with vascular leakage that exhibit many of the hallmarks of nAMD in the clinic.30, 31 This model has been used extensively to evaluate nAMD drug candidates, particularly those with anti-angiogenic activity.41 In Study CNV‑003, control antibody (N=11), VGX‑300 (N=14), aflibercept (N=7), or VGX-300 with aflibercept (N=10) were administered (intravitreal) immediately following laser injury and then again 7 days later.
