Kindly note that I have not, as you put it, "abstained from proposing my 'correct' answer". It is precisely because you have filtered out so many site users that I am prevented from answering, or from (dis)agreeing with, or commenting on, the individual answers.

That's how those filters work. They filter out potential answerers (colleagues). They do not filter out answers.

Your input is appreciated, your implied criticism slightly less, and the fact that you abstained from proposing your "correct" answer is not appreciated at all. The challenge - rather than "problem" - is both to understand the English idiom and find the proper in-context Spanish term. The option to filter out not colleagues but answers has been provided for good reasons, and in my experience it works. Thank you.

You have filtered out the vast majority of colleagues who might be able to offer a valid translation. The problem here is not in finding a good Spansh translation, it is in recognising/understanding the English idiom.

FWIW, both the answers (so far) are totally wrong.

In particular, a 'leg-up' is not a 'head start' (and a 'head start' is not, necessarily, a 'ventaja' either).
