8.5.1.11 Modes of operation
The main DCS system automatic control program ensures that there is little need for manual intervention in the control of the electrical system. The following brief outline describes the electrical aspects of the different modes of operation:
Start-up and Synchronization
During start-up, the unit auxiliaries and the relevant station service loads are fed by the HV grid via the generator transformer and unit auxiliary transformer. The generator circuit breaker is open.
After reaching synchronization conditions and closing the generator breaker, the generator takes over the auxiliary power supply of the unit and provides power to the network.
If the unit is in island operation (with the HV breaker open), they can be reconnected to the grid by closing the HV breaker under the supervision of the synchronization equipment.
Units without a generator circuit breaker are synchronized via the HV circuit breaker
