Athene cunicularia = Kaninchenkauz Explanation: Dear Patricia, I undertook a quick search on the Internet and found that the scientific name is Athene cunicularia. Using this term I found the German name "Kaninchenkauz" on the Website of the Chemnitz zoo. I guess they are a reliable source. Kauz means that it is a fairly small owl. Cheers Claudia Reference: http://www.in-chemnitz.de/zoo/chemnitz/tiere96.html |
