The oxidation of paraffins with stem can be controlled to produce a carbon monoxide-hydrogen mixture or carbon dioxide-hydrogen mixture. Commercially the reaction furnishes a source of hydrogen and carbon monoxide for use in the synthesis of hydrocarbons, alchols, aldehides ketanes and acids.
