JEREMIAH (m) "Jehovah uplifts" from the Hebrew name Yirmeyahu. This was the name of one of the major prophets of the Old Testament, author of the Book of Jeremiah and (supposedly) the Book of Lamentations. He lived to see the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem in the 6th century BC.
