French to English translations [PRO]
Photography/Imaging (& Graphic Arts) / graphic design
French term or phrase: support
This word is one of my bêtes noires!

In this case I'm translating a bid for designing and implementing graphic identity ; this is just the costings.

Three line headings each include the word:

"propositions pour les supports" / "design des supports" / "typologie des supports"

Explanation:
It depends, if it is talking LITERALLY about the physical support, then this could be one possible solution.

'support material' might work too, as long as there is no possible ambiguity with the notion of 'supporting material'!

Sometimes, 'medium' can work too — but I somehow feel that isn't the solution here.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Sorry, Tony: you must have answered just as I hit "close without grading". I realise I really didn't give clear enough context (and have received a bit more in-between times) and I'm going to try to reformulate to make everyone's life easier.

neutral  B D Finch: The medium is the stuff one applies to the support. It is a shame the Asker is reposting rather than simply adding info and context in the Discussion box.

-> Thanks, B! I think it is all fairly relative, and as you say, more context would help. I think maybe Asker doesn't know how to do that ;-)
