French term

point d'arrêt...fusée du vilebrequin...axe de distribution...vérin pneumatique..

French to English Tech/Engineering
Context: quality control checklist for the assembly of an internal combustion motor powering a backup electric generator.

POINT D'ARRÊT: The people supervising the motor assembly process are required to enter the date of execution of each step, the name of the supervisor, and any "Points [de] notification" (Notification Points...or perhaps I should translate this "Incidents") that arise during the process, which they must classify as requiring a report, the filling out of a non-compliance form ("fiche de non conformité"), a technical test ("contrôle technique"), etc. These classifications of incidents include "Point de Convocation" (incident or point requiring calling a meeting to discuss it) and "POINT D'ARRÊT," which I propose translating STOPPING POINT--i.e., an incident requiring stoppage of the assembly work. My doubt: could this also be a Ruling or Decision Point (looking another meaning of "arrêt")? What's typical usage in the industry?

FUSÉE DU VILEBREBREQUIN: Is this the crankshaft STUB AXLE, SPINDLE, SWIVEL, PIVOT, INNER SHAFT or what? My knowlege of engines is obviously limited.

COMPENSATEUR D'ÉCHAPPEMENT: Exhaust COMPENSATOR, ADVANCE, what?

VÉRIN PNEUMATIQUE "STOP": stop pneumatic jack???

COFFRET ÉLECTRIQUE: Electric control panel, electric terminal box...what's the normal usage?

AMORTISSEUR DE VIBRATION: Flexible mounting, resilient mounting, shock absorbing buffer?

Point d'arrêt: hold point. In QA procedures, this is a point where work can proceed no further until all the required steps have been recognized as completed.

Fusée de vilebrequin: crankshaft spindle. This is the end of the crankshaft, where it is attached to the next component (e.g. flywheel: check dwg)

Compensateur d'échappement: Exhaust bellows (joint). This is a bellows section which compensates for exhaust pipe expansion due to heat.

Vérin pneumatique "stop": "stop" air cylinder. This sounds like a pneumatic control device.

Coffret électrique: electrical control cabinet OR junction box (check dwg)

Amortisseur de vibrations: vibration damper. This is usually provided to damp out shaft torsional vibration

Hope this helps
