Why "minerai", I wonder? Ore is won from mines, which are similar to quarries, and "équarrir" means to butcher (cut up) dead animals ... More prosaically, though, I suppose, ore is to metal what this raw (in more ways than one) material, manufacturing meat, is to sausages and mince meat ...

«Code des usages pour les viandes hachées et les préparations de viandes hachées préparées à l’avance»
élaboré par Certiviande, garantissant en particulier que:
• les minerais sont issus exclusivement de muscles striés de bovins identifiés, conformément aux
niveaux de parage définis dans le «code des usages» CERTIVIANDE;
• tous les autres produits y compris le cœur, les graisses et aponévroses non attenantes aux muscles et
les matériaux à risque spécifique (MRS) sont interdits pour la fabrication des minerais.
