German term

Abgezogen

German to English Law/Patents Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng
This wording appears in an office action:

...Die Erzeugung der "layer" erfolgt direkt im Prozess der DLC-Abscheidung. Abweichend davon verwenden wir für den Haftvermittler, auf den hier wohl abgezogen wird, Germanium.

I'm confused by the preposition 'auf' with abziehen.

TIA for any help

Dan

Dan Cooper (asker) Aug 7, 2017:
Thank you both for your replies. I'm inclined to agree with herbalchemist.
Herbmione Granger Aug 7, 2017:
Hi Dan, I suspect that the wrong word was used here. From a practical viewpoint, it doesn't make sense to try to peel away either the DLC or Ge layer, since the Ge is gluing the DLC to some surface. Grammatically, as you pointed out, "auf" with "abziehen" makes no sense. The idiomatic expression "hier wohl abgezogen wird" would also be strange here.
The verb "abzielen" might have been meant here.

Hope this helps!

Insight: Seems to indicate use of Germanium for the bonding agent, which gets removed (auf den hier wohl abgezogen wird).
