German term

I-Zellen

German to English Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation Battery recycling
This term occurs in the phrase "I-Zellen, bzw. Batterien aus denen I-Zellen gewonnen werden" in a report on a company that does battery recycling. I know very little about batteries (the report is an auditors' report). What is the correct English term for I-Zellen please.

I Series

Zelle ist normalerweise im Batteriezusammenhang cell. Man findet jedoch auch T-Serie, I-Serie und entsprechend auf Englisch gibt es NICHT T cell oder I cell sondern nur T Series/I Series. Es scheint mir, dass es sich um Baureihen handelt.

Yes, Jo, I think "from which I series batteries are obtained" is a reasonable translation.

In the meanwhile Virgil seems pretty sure about his suggestion and I agree in so far that every battery has a cell (as I mentioned as well). But it seems he never heard of I-cells before. Maybe it would be worthwhile to do some more research on this point.
Note from asker:
Thank you, Christiane, very helpful. So if I translate the first instance in the sentence as "I Series batteries", how would you suggest I "translate aus denen I-Zellen gewonnen werden"? Maybe "from which I series cells are obtained" ...?

I-cells

It is a direct translation; it is reasonable, since every battery has cells.
