German term
Mängelfreigaben
German to English
Bus/Financial
Medical: Instruments
This is the whole sentence "Entscheidung über Mängelfreigaben, Sperrungen und Einleitung korrektiver Maßnahmen bei Produkten, die von Spezifikationen abweichen"
The strange thing is, there is hardly more than one measly result on google for mängelfreigabe as one word, and nothing from the dictionaries.
I was thinking "defect releases" or something, but I have nothing to base it on but guessing and looking up the two individual words.
The context is in a job description for a RA/QA manager at a medical devices company. If anyone can find some references, that would be great. Any additional suggestions are helpful too of course. Thanks.

I think your own suggestion fits, and fits the context.
According to the 1st link below, "Mangelfreigabe" is a process step in quality management, after which a correction of the defects may follow.
The links below (yes, there are only few) are not connected to each other but confirm the usage of the term in connection with quality management (search for "releasing defect" in the English documents).
Unfortunately I could not find more than that either...

Comment: "Thanks for your help Susanne! It helps to have a vote of confidence from other translators with things like this, and the German website you provided makes it make sense."

Detector problems should be considered from two viewpoints. Calling the manufacturer's service contact is recommended strongly even in cases of minor defects. However, these defects are not necessarily of clinical relevance.
