German term

Zechenschmied

German to English Tech/Engineering Metallurgy / Casting Ribbon Weavery
From a biographical description: "Sohn eines Zechenchmiedes" with no futher information. The few Google hits appear to refer to a now extinct occupation.

Is this perhaps a smith who worked in the mining industry? I can't find anything online or in my references, and am not myself informed in the area, so would be appreciative of any insights!

Thank you, Ingeborg. Bright and cheerful the American continent starts the day while we here are already wondering how many more hours until close of business ... Yes, I could do with a bit more motivation today, or at least a bit more time pressure ...
