German term

Siedlungsachse

German to English Other Housing, urban/suburban planning
In know what it means, but don't know the English term for it.

"Siedlungsachsen" refers to housing areas that grow out from and along main traffic arteries leading into a city.

Or, conversely, they are bands of housing areas radiating out from a city.

Please help me out of my misery! The b*st*rd phrase comes up as a heading, too!!
