Verwerfung der Aufwendungen

You were the one who used the word "distortion", Theresa, so that's where the word comes from. I assumed you meant "distortion of the calculation of costs/expenses (expenses are also costs, and I was not offering a translation incidentally -- or I would have given an answer -- but simply a discussion contribution)", and since distortion has several meanings I pointed out that it could be misunderstood in this respect. If you think that is not the case I'd like to hear your opinion.

But I am assuming your question to me is actually more based on my interpretation of Abgrenzungsunschärfen, which I see as related to this "Glättung". If you see that differently I would also like to hear your opinion. Thanks.

Woher kommt denn die "distortion of cost calculations"?? Es geht doch um Aufwendungen (expenses) - da ist keinerlei Maniupulierung insinuiert; lediglich ein buchhalterisches Ausgleichen ("Glätten"), um die Beträge (kalkulatorisch) besser/gleichmäßiger über's Jahr zu verteilen.

And since distortion also has other meanings you could easily find yourself in undiplomatic waters with "distortion of cost calculations", <s>which I think is probably not meant anyway. </s> I would use "has lead to inaccuracies" or something like that. I just think the Abgrenzungsunschärfen (inexact cost-categorisations of some kind probably) has lead to inaccuracies or ambiguities which have now been removed. Hope that helps a little bit. Sorry I can't give you any more than that.

Unbedingt den Kunden fragen; das könnte sowohl distortion (statistisch) als auch rejection heißen. Ich tendirere aber zum ersteren (wegen der Glättung; d.h., die haben die Beträge ein bisschen massiert, damit das Ganze gleichmäßiger ist)
