German term
KN-Wände
German to English
Tech/Engineering
construction, Innenausbau
From a Swiss housing construction project specification ("Baubeschrieb"):
211.6 Mauerarbeiten
- Kellerböden Alle Böden mit Zementmörtel-Überzug auf Bodenplatte.
- Keller - Innenwände Sofern nötig in Beton, resp. Kalksandstein, je nach statischen
Erfordernissen. KN-Wände vollfugig gemauert.
---
"K" could stand for "Keller-", but then "N" leaves me stumped. "Keramik" is another candidate.
It might be a brand name for the product/material used to build said walls. The only Internet reference I found speaks of "KN-Wände" and "Alba-Wände" in the same breath. The latter is the Swiss brand name for a gypsum block interior wall system.
I would certainly appreciate any ideas, insights or expressions of sympathy....

Apparently KN is a type of recycled Kalksandstein. You'll find plenty of hits for Kalksandsteinbruch + KN.

Comment: "Thanks, Christiane -- your tip was close enough to inspire me: I went back and dug some more and found that the most likely candidate for the "N" is "Naturstein," which is a standard component mixed with sand-lime to make sand-lime blocks.
It seems there's no difference (in this case) between "Kalksandstein-Wände" and "KN-Wände" -- the author simply used "KN" in the second reference to save a few keystrokes.
Thanks again, I definitely wouldn't have succeeded without you."
