Kotiseutu, kotimaa

You can say that one's heimat is where you come from, it is 'kotiseutu' in Finnish. If you refer to country where one comes from then it is 'kotimaa'.

There use to be a German TV-series called 'Heimat' and that was translated as "Kotiseutu" as far as I can remember.

koti, kotiseutu, kotimaa

Heimat = koti(paikka) also das Zuhause
oder kotiseutu, gemeint ist die Gegend (z.B. Sauerland, Hessen, Friesland), wo man Zuhause ist.
Kotimaa (Heimatland), wie z.B. "Kotimaani on Suomi"= Mein Heimatland ist Finnland
