German term
100'
German to English
Bus/Financial
This is more of a stylistic question than a translation question. Does the apostrophe used with the number indicate thousands? I say thousands because the figure for the amount of units delivered between Sept. and Dec. is written as 100', while, in the next sentence, they talk about trying to get a contract for 300,000 to 400,000 for the first half of the following year.

I respectfully disagree with the above answer. When translating some documents related to sales figures for semiconductors, I came across usages where 100' was clearly used to mean 100,000. I've also seen 100" for 100,000,000.

I've seen ' used to mean "degrees Celsius" and I've seen it in numbers in place of a comma (particulary in Swiss German texts), e.g. 100'000. But I have never seen or heard of "100'" being used as shorthand for one hundred thousand. Could it be a typo?
