The text I am translating is a general text about an electrical cable supply and installation business.

There are frequent references to the cables used and they are described thus:

Hier zum Beispiel 4x4, 4 Adern, 4 Quadrat.
Das geht hoch bis 120 Quadrat.

I think 4 Adern means 4-veined but what does Quadrat mean in this context. there are many instances in my text where this word is preceded by a nubmber, as above.
