Amerikai angolban ezt a kifezejést használjuk leggyakrabban arra, ha valakivel munkát végeztetnek, de nem fizetnek utánuk járulékot, adót, TB-t, stb., nem vallják be sehol, hogy kiadták valakinek a munkát. Én úgy tudom, a "zsebbe fizetni" kifejezés ezt jelenti magyarul. Pl. "He got paid under the table." "She paid me under the table."
