Whether it is a national thing is of course something which I cannot judge, hence in brackets.
As far as the "Conservatoria" goes, Archives = safekeeping = conservation should pretty much cover it.

Of course, I also knew what this was, but I needed a word for "Conservadoria" since they kept referring to themselves as "esta Conservadoria" and for some reason the word "Archive" just wouldn't come to me!"
