disagree Donna Sandin : are you sure it's not the apron? My dad's a Mason of a high degree. I know very little about it, but the apron is a valued element of the dress and I don't believe he has any robes.

From research I have done, a tunic does exist in Freemasonry. Look up "tunic" and "freemasonry" in Yahoo or Google. I'm quite sure you can say "tunic" here.

I think it is either "robe" or "gown", though I prefer the latter in this context
