i think "savings deposit" could be a more precise description, although i think just deposit, as already suggested, might suffice. i don't see the relation to tax, at least within the context you have provided, therefore i can only speculate regarding this point: in spain, tax is automatically deducted from any type of interest payment made by a bank. therefore payment of interest on a savings deposit would also have its tax deducted - perhaps the mention of this in your text has flung you off course?

i have recently closed off my own "imposición a plazo fijo". since the amount deposited itself is fixed, interest is not added to the initial sum, but is paid into a different account, which here is referred to as "depósito asociado" (i myself am a bit puzzled as to why it doesn't say "cuenta asociada").
