Glossary entry (derived from question below)
Spanish term or phrase:
Raciones de campaña tipo 24 horas
English translation:
MREs (meals, ready to eat) / 24-hour (operational) ration pack
Spanish term
Raciones de campaña tipo 24 horas
El documento proviene de Lat. Ame. ¿Supongo que campaña aquí sería lo que en España se llamaría acampada?
Muchas gracias por vuestra ayuda.

MREs (meals, ready to eat) / 24-hour (operational) ration pack
MRE stands for Meal, Ready-to-Eat and is currently the main individual operational ration for the U.S. military. MREs are meant to be completely self-contained meals that provide all the nutrition a solider-on-the-go needs to sustain him/herself. Typical contents include entree, side dish, crackers, peanut butter/cheese spread, desert, instant coffee/tea, matches, toilet paper, spoon, and a heater to heat the main entree. While everything in an MRE can be eaten cold, it usually tastes better warm.

The British use a ration called the 24-Hour Operational Ration Pack. Previous versions of this ration were called the ration packs (GS for General Service). Those rations included a lot of food in cans. By 1999, the GS rations were phased out and the newer GP (General Purpose) ration packs became the primary operational ration pack.

: of course there is a reference to the military, though it doesn´t have to be specially used from them, could also be eaten by civilians like in N.Orleans after Katrina. It is no camping rations

Thanks, Maiwel. I agree with all that you say. "Field ration" is OK, too, but the 24-hour part is important.

Ver "collective ration":Collective ration: ration foreseen and calculated for 10 people, recommended for situations in which users can eat together, either in refectories or out in the countryside, where the food supply has been interrupted. También es un tipo de ración de campaña.

Gracias, en el link viene la definición que no es especificamente militar: Field ration: designed to cover the nutritional needs of a person, usually during 24 hours for military or civil use.

: I would add "daily" to match the original, although your definition states food allowance "for one day"
