Spanish term

paralelo 65º 30’ Norte

Spanish to English Social Sciences Geography radio communications
Following on from my last question, I am wondering about the above term and wondering if it is in fact a typo.... any ideas?

Line C departs from the North Pole; it follows the longest circular arc until the point of intersection of the paralelo 65º 30’ Norte with the international limit in the Bering strait; it continues along the longest circular arc until the point of intersection of the 165th meridian East of Greenwich with the 50th parallel North; it once again follows a longest circular arc until the point of intersection of the 170th meridian West with the 10th parallel North; it continues along the 10th parallel North until its intersection with the 120th meridian West, and, finally, follows the 120th meridian West to the South Pole.

agree Paul Merriam : Another way it's commonly phrased is "line". But it isn't a typo.

agree Taña Dalglish : Absolutely right sugrass! One observation though: based on TBL's proposed translation it appears that the other question posed (circular arc one) needs no further commentary? Happy New Year to all!

latitude 65° 30' north

"latitude" instead of "parallel", perhaps?
Peer comment(s):

agree Taña Dalglish : I agree. In fact Henry had proposed this very answer to the same asker not too long ago. I am not too sure but it would appear that in certain cases, latitude and parallel are used interchangeably. But I am not an authority on this! Happy New Year!
