"CT, Descanso" (w/ "Alta")

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Health Care
A set of Workers Compensation forms filed in Puerto Rico by the CFSE (State Insurance Fund Corp.) repeatedly offer as choices for disposition of the specific medical cases: "CT", "Descanso," or "Alta". In one case, "CT to Descanso" and "Descano to CT" are given as options. Alta is discharge. A Spanish nursing site uses "CT" as an abbreviation for "Control medico," which seems likely to me (I would translate as "under medical supervision"), but then what would you do with "descanso" in this context?

Just an educated guess, Gretchen, especially on CT:

CT: Contrato Temporal (I'm guessing here)

Descanso: "descanso médico" --> medical leave, or sometimes called: Disability leave

Alta: Could mean: "dar de alta"--> "medical discharge" or a certificate of fitness for work

@ Gretchen o.k. let me post the answer to descanso = temporary disability leave so it can be entered in the glossary...

KudoZ novice So how do I post the answer chosen and grant grading points now??
Gretchen Small (asker) Aug 13, 2013:
Temporary disability leave It does mean rest, but in this case, Lorena was on the right track, it is temporary disability leave.

I was mistaken to assume that "CT" meant under medical supervision in this case. It is short for "continuar trabajando" (of course!), as the second link below makes clear. The first link below specifies that under the PR'n system a worker can either receive medical treatment while "CT" or in "Descanso" --either working or on disability leave.
(The document Lorena linked to also helped by providing the definition of "dietas" in the CSFE system which I needed.)

Podría ser reposo: rest
lorenab23 Aug 13, 2013:
Doing a quick search "descanso" seems to be short for "tratamiento medico en descanso" so the patient is receiving medical treatment and taken off work for a certain period of time...(temporary disability???)
