Spanish term or phrase: patrón ferroso
I am translating an HACCP guide that mentions "patrones" en relation to metal detection several times:

ferrous test piece
Explanation:
or ferrous calibration piece. There doesn't seem to be set (standard) sizes but there seem to be typical size ranges.

From an HACCP study

Ferroso: 2,5 mm
No ferroso: 3 mm
Acero inoxidable: 3,5 mm"

https://bdigital.uncu.edu.ar/objetos_digitales/13680/tesis-b...

"Every CCP must have a critical limit. For example, the limit of detection for a metal detector, and therefore the critical limit, may be 2mm Ferrous, 2.5mm Non-ferrous and 4mm Stainless Steel to reflect the test pieces used to check the viability of the metal detector."

"The HACCP Plan ... Metal detection...Critical limit - Ferrous 1.0mm, Nonferrous 1.5mm and Stainless Steel 2.5mm...Routine checks that the metal detector is able to both detect and reject metal test pieces (2.5mm Stainless Steel, 1.5Non-Ferrous and 1.0F)"

(As an aside, a monetary system gold standard is a 'patrón oro')
