Indeed, we would need more context. I interpreted the meaning to be the same as in Spanish, as in the futility of all that had been done (or something like that). Turns out, the phrase flows the same way in English. Thanks, Robert!

: Hola, Giovanni. Me parece que tu opción tiene un sentido ligeramente distinto. Lo que yo interpreto - y puedo equivocarme, claro ;) - es que se cuestiona lo fútil que es "todo esto" (lo que sea que signifique "todo esto" en la frase).
