Spanish term
"Chicho Man"

This is from a biography of a Panamanian boxer who spent quite a bit of time hanging out with gangs and other assorted thuggish characters. Here, he's escaped from prison and is hiding in Panama City. In order to escape recognition he lets his hair grow.
Me dejaba crecer el cabello, por la parte de atrás parecía una "chichi", pero por delante era un "Chicho Man".
I find references to "Chicho Man" as a Panamanian singer, but this biography takes place in the late 50s or early 60s, and I'm wondering if it refers to something else, and the if current Chicho Man's name is a reference to something that happened or was well-known in Panama earlier than the 80s.
Any ideas?

The context is quite slangy. It could also be "cool / great guy", but I think that sounds a bit flat
