I am translating "aristas" as edges, as this article deals with finished machinery. But how can I translate "matar la aritsa"?

Edges Agree with you (and bizisyl) over edges, but here we are talking about removing "imperfections", so it would only be sharp edges to be worked on, and they are not so much smoothed out, which might imply removing the angle altogether), as smoothed down: thus *sharp edges are smoothed down* (wonder if it's going to be sanding?)

This is a common instruction in manufacturing drawings where sharp edges are not wanted (where dull edges are wanted); Sharp edges are removed.
