Spanish term

Hc fisioterapia

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
In a medical report, the patient is diagnosed:
Subtrochanteric fracture of the left femur with osteosynthesis.
Paresthesia in outside posterior right buttock and thigh

and is given treatment with a series of medications and "Hc fisioterapia". Any idea what the 'Hc' or 'HC' is? (the doctor is not very hot on punctuation or capitals!!)
many thanks

Discussion

Karen Rosenberg (asker) Aug 6, 2010:
well, in the end the client (private clinic) was pressing for the translation and I said they would have to ask the doctor what is the 'Hc', and according to the doctor its 'mini cuerpo'. I am no further enlightened with this explanation than with the 'Hc'. The only reference in Google to Mini Body Physiotherapy is some Chinese massage gadget, which doesn't convince me at all, but who am I to argue with the doctor?!?!
Hi Karen. "Fisioterapia" means physical therapy (exercises) for the patient, so I do not think this is related to "hormona de crecimiento". Is there a possibility that the abbreviation appears in English? The patient is hospitalized only for evaluation and follow up, but I think that Hc Fisioterapia means "Home Care Physiotherapy" = "Fisioterapia en el domicilio / ambulatoria." Regards and good luck.
Karen Rosenberg (asker) Aug 6, 2010:
Having said that, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Growth_hormone

it does help increase bone density (apart from many other effects), but does it go jointly with physiotherapy? And in an 80 year old man?

Karen, I think you would be wiser to post your entire context in Spanish, rather than paraphrase in English, FWIW.
Karen Rosenberg (asker) Aug 6, 2010:
I had seen this article, it refers to a boy with some mental disability. The patient in question is around 80. I was wondering if growth hormones would be applicable

Hemicuerpo (Hc) fisioterapia > Half-body physiotherapy

From the doctor's reply (small body), it's obvious to me that 'Hc' stands for 'HEMICUERPO', which is often (erroneously) translated as 'small body' by Spanish speakers.
Actually, I'd give a "High" for Hc = hemicuerpo, but only a 'Medium' for hemicuerpo fisiotherapia = half-body physiotherapy.

The proper translation depends on context and remains problematic for many ProZ askers/answerers ('hemicuerpo' appears most often in reference to the spine/vertebra):
http://www.proz.com/kudoz/spanish_to_english/medical_general...

'Half-body' seems to fit here, although most of the references refer to massage clinics, etc. and "hemicuerpo fisioterapia" / "hc fisiotherapia" get no relevant hits.

'Hemibody' and 'on one side of the body' are also found:
Hemibody is usually as 'hemibody radiation/irradiation'; in other contexts, there are few hits (mostly from Spanish originals).
'On one side of the body' is used in less technical material.
