tongue-in-groove board
It is the kind of wooden planks that have along one length a narrow protrusion and on the other side a slot of the same size. These fit together (often with glue) and make for a tight fit. Commonly used for roofing.

That may be. Certainly glue is not always necessary and I did not mean to suggest that nails are not used in those cases where the boards are glued together. Indeed, they are always nailed down to the underlying surface in either case.

The description of tounge-in-groove panel is quite correct I believe though that in Sweden we more often nail these planks to the underlying surface rather without any glue. |

: We also say virtually the same here on the other side of the pond: "tongue and groove board". The Brits seem to favo(u)r your version or "tongue and grooved board".
