Working mostly behind the scenes, your ProZ.com team has just completed a spring update. Accomplished are the following:

- The look-and-feel of the site has been improved through standardization of fonts and more consistent use of design elements sitewide.

Dear members,

Working mostly behind the scenes, your ProZ.com team has just completed a spring update. Accomplished are the following:

- The look-and-feel of the site has been improved through standardization of fonts and more consistent use of design elements sitewide.

- The site has been converted to Unicode (almost completely*). This change allows text written in various languages to be displayed on the same page, without requiring the viewer to manually change the browser character encoding.

- Site access policies have been modified to make the site simultaneously "more open" and "more exclusive". Specifically, changes have been made to the Blue Board and job posting areas to ensure that even as information in these is available more broadly, the type of traffic and information that may lead to working relationships is restricted more thoroughly to members. More information will be provided in a post to follow.

- Members who work in multiple language pairs are now able to sort their pairs according to their preference for promotion in the directory and profiles. (Note: Clients will be able to search the directory not only by pairs, but also by pair *priority*, so it is important that you sort your language pairs at your earliest convenience.)

- A new profile format has been created, featuring richer information and an easier-to-use, more attractive format. It is available now for beta review (members only; must be logged in): http://www.proz.com/profile (To make suggestions or comments, go to: http://www.proz.com/topic/44157 )

- Existing site features have been improved. The ProZ.com Exchange has been completely overhauled and re-released, and is already being used by members interested in exchanging training, language lessons, translation memories, books, accommodations and more. See: http://www.proz.com/exchange

- Two documents (published as knowledgebase articles) were published on "Getting the most out of ProZ.com"--one for translators/interpreters, and one for outsourcers and translation companies. See:

- All site rules and policies are now shown in one place: http://www.proz.com/rules These rules are also linked to from more places.

- Several new servers were added, and additional changes were made to the site to boost speed and accommodate the increase in traffic we have experienced so far this year. Visitor traffic has tripled over the past year, including a 25% rise since January.
