Our primary genre is romance, namely dark romance and romantic suspense, though we may occasionally license outside this realm. JOB SUMMARY Grey Eagle Publications is seeking a native French speaker for the role of a contract translator for as-needed projects with short turnaround times (eight weeks). Projects consist of translating manuscripts from English to French, communicating with your designated editor to polish the translation, and delivering final translations to the project coordinator. The translator may also be asked to provide translations of ad copy, taglines, and other marketing materials. Start times vary, and new projects will be provided to the translator as manuscripts are licensed. Please be aware that these books are romance novels with darker themes, with all that it implies (think Fifty Shades +). RESPONSIBILITIES Translate manuscripts from English to French Take feedback and make revisions with your designated editor Provide timely communication with the project coordinator regarding project work SKILLS Professional experience in fiction translation with short turnaround times Proficient on MAC or PC and Microsoft Applications REQUIREMENTS: Native French speaker with strong grammar/orthography and punctuation skills Near-native command of English Consistent and reliable availability Ability to start and onboard efficiently Responsive to emails At least one year of professional translation or interpretation experience Ability to provide links to previously published works Ability to work with and translate romance novels (think Fifty Shades +) ---- Text below added May 17, 2024 22:26 GMT by job poster ---- $0.03/word Budget and payment details: Budget information for this job is restricted to those who meet the requirements of the job.
