How about the other busy multitasking parents who do laundry, cook, and any number of other household tasks when taking a break? The benefits of working from home (I guess!!). | | | Surf the web | Jan 17, 2007 |
I see that surfing the web scores highest. I voted it as well. Though that's a terrible habit. I should really take proper breaks. | | | Fiona Paterson United Kingdom Local time: 01:32 Member (2006) Russian to English + ...
I have an ongoing flirtation with a friend in Melbourne through Skype's chat facility. It brightens up my day and takes my mind off translation problems (and he's an IT guru so he can sometimes help me!). But maybe I should go for walks around the park and try to meet someone closer to home instead.

Hi Mary, I deliberately specified "while at desk". I must admit, I often go and load/unload the washing machine/tumbler/dishwasher in short breaks just to stretch my legs. | | | I voted: other... | Jan 17, 2007 |
I am a semi - professional bicyclist. My diary training is about 2-3 hours and I do not have mini-breaks, I have more free time due to accumulation job I usually do in order to have a specific schedule job. Sometimes when I have breaks, I take a rest in bed. | | | contemplation? | Jan 17, 2007 |
do most people use their left hand or their right hand for this? | | | I chose for "other" | Jan 17, 2007 |
I normally play with my child, either at home or take her to a park or store. Then I can also go out and get some air.

There are enormous quantities of reading matter in the back numbers as well as current news... There's a free Sudoku too and some articles are available to non-subscribers. The Danish newspaper 'Jyllands Posten' is good for me, but not for anyone who can't read Danish... Again, the subscriber pages are an advantage. But lots of newspapers run equivalent services. The CIoL and ITI sites get a visit now and then. Occasionally I surf round a client's site - that may be useful or may be a waste of time... I try to limit these breaks to max. 10 minutes. The New Scientist Sudoku saves itself for later if you haven't finished when you leave the site so that is no excuse! Then it's back to work! Reading the news? | Jan 18, 2007 |
How about reading the news online? I sometimes think that "surfing the web" is more like jumping around on the web with no specific usual destination. I mostly read the news in two or three different online news services. | | | Fan Gao Australia Local time: 10:32 English to Chinese + ...

I guess I was reading too fast - I selected other but actually, when at my desk, I usually check out proz.com and check my emails. Now, if we were talking about mini breaks away from the desk (which is what I thought).....it's a whole different ballgame! | | | Pages in topic: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: What do you mostly do during mini-breaks while at your desk (not including eating/drinking)?
