Looking for CAT for Romanian

I\'m looking for a CAT that translates into and from Romanian.

It would be more interesting if it were less expensive.

I think you have the wrong impression about CAT tools Apr 30, 2003

CAT tools are meant for helping you in the translation process, they do not translate. It is still you who has to do the translation. The only advantage about CAT tools is that if you translate repetitive texts, the CAT tool memorizes the text that you have already translated and if there is a similar or identical sentence, your previous translation will be suggested.



BUT CAT TOOLS DO NOT TRANSLATE!!!!!!!!

A CAT (Computer Aided Translation) tool is usually based on a translation memory (as has been explained by someone else in this thread) and such a database is not language dependent in itself. One could say that at the beginning it is like an empty drawer in which you can put whatever you want: socks, spoons, stationery etc. But once you choose what to put in such a drawer you\'d better keep consistent (you don\'t want paperclips to end up between you underwear, do you



You\'re question seems to rather hint to MT (Machine Translation) tools/programs, which are conversely very lang dependent (they are based on default/customizable embedded dictionaris). IMHO, FYI as a translator you should familiarize also with Trados (and its price the CAT considered the \"industry standard\" by most agencies (http://www.trados.com or even better for an overview http://www.translationzone.com)
