This is a Dari to English text I am translating in which the Arabic word "enkeshAf" has been used:

What are the different meanings for "EnkeshAf"?
The text is related to the energy sector.

do you mean USAID?

In Arabic, the word انکشاف is not used very much (as far as I'm aware) but would have the meaning "disclosure/revelation/uncovering, etc.". I do know however that in modern Farsi انکشاف can mean "development", thus is the meaning you are looking for "development", giving you USAID office for your whole translation.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Aisha and Nesrin both were right about USAID, but Aisha was the early bird :-) Fuad was very helpful in helping me get the complete picture. Thank you all!"

disclosure, revelation

THe word انكشاف (from the verb انكشف inkashafa, meaning to be uncovered, revealed) means disclosure, revelation.

I suspect this is one of the cases in which an Arabic word adopted in Farsi/Dari has taken on a different meaning entirely from the original (I remember seeing quite a few when I was learning Farsi some years ago).
Is it possible that نمايندگی انکشاف بين المللی ايالات متحده امريکا refers to USAID?

exposure

The noun INKISHAF is derived from the the verb INKASHAFA, which is the reflexive form of the verb KASHAF, which means to remove cover ("uncover"). INKISHAF is used, for example, in the context of bodily exposure. By extension, it is used in in military contexts, as when a fighting uint is exposed to the enemy, and in financial contexts, as when a company is "exposed" due to book imbalance. It is also used in the context of secrets being disclosed.

The noun KASHF is used (in addition to the obvious sense of removing cover) in the sense of (1) medical examination, (2) financial report or statement (as in a monthly bank statement), and (3) the lifting of a cause for distress (the clouds of gloom being scattered by the grace of Providence).

The verb IKTASHAFA is used for another sense of "removing cover," namely "to discover."

Scouts are called KASH-SHAFA, apparently because they go on excursions of discovery.
Peer comment(s):

agree Stephen Franke : Tamaam wa nuS. "Discovery" (akin to 'finding' or 'revealing') seems closest in this context.
