For example, grean may be used for low plains, while brown may be used for high plateaus, and so on. So we say that this map shows the "topographical relief" of Japan, meaning how the land changes elevation.

yes, تضاريس does mean relief, but perhaps it would be better to say "the topographic relief of Japan" to make it clearer.
