Prefessional development course Explanation: A common description of courses which a person takes after they are already certified or employed in a certain field, they are are not necessarily working towards a degree but want to expand their knowledge base and gain expertise. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 mins (2007-02-20 21:08:20 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Ooops, sorry "Professional" ---->NOT 'Prefessional' -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 30 mins (2007-02-20 21:30:25 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- PD Course if you want to abbreviate. Review the results returnened by google when searching for 'PD courses' and you will see that many of the links are courses offered on a variety of topics but are all considered "professional development" If you look at the course catagories on this site http://www.professionallearningboard.com/lms/course/category... You will notice that PD courses are listed among Free courses and Graduate credit (courses) which would seem to support my statement that the courses are generally not taken to complet degree requirements but are courses taken to meet requirements to maintain certification. I am a teacher in NY and we are now required to have 175 hours of professional development each five years. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2007-02-20 22:13:37 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Yes. For example I am a NY state certified teacher and even though I employed at the moment, If I were unemployed I would still need to take PD courses to maintain my certification. These courses are also available for people who are currently unemployed -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2007-02-21 00:25:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- In response to your question above as to which is better "Professional Occupational Training" o "Occupational Professional Training" I would say that 'Professional Occupational Training'is the better choice and could also work instead of professional development course, although this is still my first choice. |
