As

English to Arabic Medical Medical (general)
Dear in proz ,
Does (as) in the down mentioned context means (when) or ( because) . I'd be grateful if you help me figure it out.
Thanks ,

Some doctors who work in a more consultative way have found that they feel less pressured and responsible for making decisions as they share some of the responsibility for decision-making with patients. Being seen to be a full-time 'expert' is ultimately a burden and can be stressful

"As" here is closer to "when," but you are right: it does in fact have a shade of "because." The doctor shares the information. When he/she does so (and because he/she does so), he/she feels less pressured.

I feel that the word كلما somehow carries both senses, akin to "as" in the text you cited.

Another usage to the word "as": it can be used in the meaning of "in the capacity of". Example: He works as an engineer.
