Spanish term

tensodeformacionales

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Mining tunnels
This is the context
Este tipo de sostenimiento se utilizará en las zonas donde el macizo rocoso que presenten una condiciones tensodeformacionales muy buenas correspondientes con tipos de terreno según el GSI I y II, siempre y cuando no se prevea problemas de roturas frágiles tipo estallido de roca.

but I can't find the definition of "tensodeformacional" anywhere :( I assume it relates to tension and deformation but the English term doesn't seem to be appearing anywhere.

Discussion

asptech Feb 23, 2010:
For soils and rocks, the expressions "constitutive equations" or "constitutive relationships" are often used in calculations, because the relations between stresses and strains (deformations) are often very complicated as compared to other materials like steel and concrete. They can also be difficult to establish from laboratory and "in-situ" tests.

Thanks you Sergio, have you seen the private message I sent you? :-0))
Sergio Campo Feb 23, 2010:
Speaking of a soil, I would use "stress-strain" or "stress-deformation" conditions/behavior.

I have just come up with something like that Henry, as well as "tension deformation" related to cement. Now I need a Civil Engineer to give an opinion I guess :-0)) Thanks for your help.

This is how it is formed in English, but you validate it! I just offer the term.

tense-deformation or tense-deformed

I´ll try to explain you what I think, found and know.
Tensodeformacianal is an adjective in Spanish. So it is better to search for a definition of a noun.
El tensor deformación o tensor de deformaciones es un tensor simétrico usado en mecánica de medios continuos y mecánica de sólidos deformables para caracterizar el cambio de forma y volumen de un cuerpo. En tres dimensiones un tensor (de rango dos) de deformación tiene la forma general.
Exact translation I think will be tense-deformation or tense-deformed. It is well-spread and I think means the same.
This is the use of this word - Tense-deformation condition in multi-layered structure (exactly term in construction).
Wish you good luck!!! Hope I made you a good advice!

stress-strain relationships

condiciones tensodeformacionales muy buenas = very good stress-strain relationships = small deformations at high stresses
Peer comment(s):

agree Nikki Graham : I agree with strain and stress, but don't see why conditions can't be used (but that wasn't in the question)
