Russian term
защищенность от копирования
Russian to English
Law/Patents
Internet, e-Commerce
Copyright, intellectual property protection
If "copyright" is "авторское право", then what is this? I would write "protection against copying," "security against copying," except in the context it would seem to be a legal term, not a technical one. It's talking about a piece of software, and there is in parentheses: "(патент РФ и защищенность от копирования)".
RF patent and ... what?
RF patent and ... what?

copy protection (software)
I leave it to you whether to add "software" in parens depending on your audience

Rachel, it seems to be it's "A/the Russian Federation patent and
copy protection (software/technology)..." but I can't be sure w/o context.
The patent reference is only to the Russian Federation but the software/technology is of course country-independent so the phrasing seems OK to me.

Note from asker:
Thanks Gary. So, I guess the "защищенность от копирования" is not a legal term, but a technical one after all, and that's why РФ is inserted only with the patent part? |

: Only if it is indeed protection in a technical sense. Given the context, I'm not convinced it is and, if it turns out to be legal, this won't do.// See discussion - this is likely a legal and not a technical term.

: or copyprotection as a single word (and as a technical term)

: технический это термин или не-тхнический - все равно в данном случае. copy protection ведь может означать то, что приняли нормы которые не допускают копирования данного документа например.

Comment: "Thanks again, Gary! Though I was interested that some native-speakers shared my doubts, the customer did confirm that it's supposed to refer to technical protection, even though it's in the parens with the legal patent."

I am sure, it was just a bad Russian translation.
