English term or phrase: the ring
The Ring has much to recommend it. In a chilling opening scene, two high school girls scare each other silly as one tells the other that she watched the video exactly seven days earlier. They try to laugh it off, but their giggles soon give way to anxiety as one creepy event after another suggests that the deadly threat is real. The phone rings. The thunder booms. The girls make their way through the dark house alone. Too late, they realize what the audience already knows – someone, or something, is in the house with them, and has come to make good on the promise of death in “seven days.”

It all depends for which country your translation is. Some countries released it as "EL ARO", some others, "La llamada". If you wish to get back to me ([email protected]) and let me know which is the country, I can confirm this to you.

agree  Rick Henry: "ring" had two meanings - both of which you offer, although I doubt you could convey both easily with a single title.

"La señal"

Explanation:
No sé exactamente cuál es la pregunta (significado de "The ring", título de la película en los países de habla hispana...) por si acaso diré que "La señal" es el título con el que se comercializó en España, si no estoy equivocado.
