I found this word before the word ''highway''
In Italian, it should mean ''in ritardo'', but why is it used as an adjective?
I understand them, even when they can’t understand the reason an unlit ambulance on a late highway ...

Il fatto che l'ambulanza abbia le luci spente mi fa pensare che non abbia nessuna fretta e che quindi la persona dentro sia deceduta, potrebbe essere?
