just a quick note of explanation: a sterility hood is used in microbiology when tests are being done with cell and tissue culture and so sterile technique is necessary. it is similar to a fume hood as used in a chemistry lab. it's basically a large structure with a sliding cover which is opened just enuf for the lab tech to put hands inside and work with various objects. it uses uv light, air cirulation and other means to maintain sterility. they're really quite handy. that's all. hope that helps.
