Phil Good suggestion, please post as answer

Agree with PhilGoddard While éconumérique seems to have caught on in French, the concept doesn't seem to have gone far beyond France’s borders. The literal 'ecodigital' is hardly a mainstream term, so it might not be understood. If no commonly known and accepted equivalent can be found (I've looked, to no avail), then Phil's "Do your inbox and the environment a favour" seems like a good solution to me. Of course you can also take a gamble on 'ecodigital' becoming a common term in the near future.

There's also a rather cumbersome foreign coinage, 'digi-ecology' ...
In LET’S CLEAN THE ENVIRONMENT, Braco Koren enables the viewer to clean the environment polluted by images generated by the screen and thus perform an act of ‘digi-ecology’.

and the potentially highly confusing and equally uncommon 'digitally environmental'.
philgoddard Jan 3, 2023:
You can't translate this - you have to write something in English from scratch. Maybe "Do your inbox and the environment a favour".

The only problem is that most people won't have thought about the environmental cost of sending, receiving and storing emails, so it might need an extra sentence of explanation. "Did you know that storing one email emits X amount of carbon a year?" or whatever.

eco(-)digital

It would be helpful and useful if references and tentative answers were kept out of discussion entries and posted so proper swipes can be taken at them.
Example sentence:

Going eco digital means that you are committed to an environmentally conscious way of working and are actively going towards goals that will help the fight against climate change, such as reducing your company's carbon footprint.

Peer comment(s):

agree Carol Gullidge : Sounds fine to me! Probably better than biodigital, which I had been considering!

Thanks and merci, Carol.
neutral AllegroTrans : Your "explanation" is disingenuous and your suggested answer, whilst literal, doesn't really cut the mustard

The translation, though is accurate as closest out of all the answers to the source text. That apart, the discussion entries feature is not supposed to be misused for diffident answers.
neutral liz askew : I don't think this works outside the marketing context.

Please read the example sentence and stop 'squinnying'.
agree Daryo : that's exactly what the ST says. Any new term starts as a "new, not yet widely used" // that's NOT a reason to recycle "old terms".

The environmentally-smart thing

If the email is not worth keeping, do the environmentally- smart thing and delete it!

Unfortunately the woefully inept literal translation doesn't even begin to do the question justice, and should be avoided at all costs.

disagree Daryo : you can't simply ignore the "digital" bit - which happens to be THE distinctive element of this term!
