Hi, Jeanne, there are many names in English that do not have an equivalent into Spanish.

My name is Henry, which is Enrique in Spanish. However, all the names you have given have no translation and remain as they are.

The comments by Indiana and Henry are 100% true and correct. However, if everyone in your Spanish class wants to try out a "Spanish" name/alterego for your class, then I suggest the following. Also, when I have travelled in foreign countries, I have seen that if you use a name for yourself that the people of the country are familiar with, they are more likely to remember it.

marisa = very close to Maritza
Katelyn = Catalina or Kati

Megan = sounds kinda like Magdalena
Megan = also the nickname for Magdalena is "Magda"

Gary = Gerardo

Shane... there is no "sh" in spanish, only "ch." Some 'nicknames' with "ch" are Chuy (jesus) Chava (salvador) and Chon (encarnacion)
Peer comment(s):

neutral Maria Belarra : It's a possibility. Marisa exists as such in Spanish, tough (from MARIa LuiSA)
