I am translating the final section of this poem by Hans Sachs and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good way to end it. The whole phrase is:
Sankt Peter bschloß der Himmelpfortn, versperrt die Landsknecht an den Ortn,
dass seit keiner hinein ist kummen, weil Sankt Peter mit ihn´ tät brummen.
Daß aus dem Schwank kein Unrat wachs, bitt und begehrt mit Fleiß Hans Sachs
The final two sentences are the ones causing difficulties. I know that the German is quite antiquated and this is what has stumped me slightly, so any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much, everyone.
